Minimum Qualification / Experience:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and science
- Forklift license (Advantage)
- Code B driver’s license (Advantage)
- Computer literate (Word and excel)
- The candidate must be medically fit in terms the Mine Health and Safety Act
- Clear criminal record essential

Duties and responsibilities:
Safety
• Adhere to the group’s health and safety rules
• Understand and comply to the group’s health and safety standards
• Keep the laboratory clean and safe
• Participate in all health and safety campaigns
• Perform JHA prior to any daily activity
• Report incidents, near misses and or any unsafe conditions or actions.
Performance
• Sampling and sample preparation including drying, homogenising and splitting.
• Performs various tests on cement, concrete, aggregates, soils and core samples according to work instruction.
• Perform calculations on results check for compliance to specifications before submitting results or repeating tests.
• Collect samples from sites for testing in laboratory
• Perform certain tests at sites by using the mobile laboratory.
• Calculates results of tests done and enter these results into log – sheets and submit these to the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Cleans all equipment after use.
• Responsible for good housekeeping.
• Perform various calculations on results, check for compliance to relevant specifications before repeating test of handing results to Laboratory Supervisor.
• Keep sufficient stock levels of consumables and report in time shortage when required.
• Ensure sufficient Laboratory stock is available for routine testing.
• Ensure sufficient clean assembled moulds are available at all times.
• Ensure that a good working knowledge of test methods is maintained.
• Follow procedures for marking, storage and testing of specimen to ensure tractability at all times.
• Ensure curing tanks contain the correct age cubes/specimen and is always full of water.
• On a routine basis fill in the environmental monitoring sheets.
• Responsible to check the environmental conditions before any test, if out of specification adjust/report to Laboratory Supervisor.
• Take part in Research and Development programs by testing using standard/non – standard or new test methods.
• Work overtime when required.
• Ensure only latest revisions of Work Instruction are used.
• When any of the requirements of standard test methods are breached notify Laboratory Supervisor and note on work sheets.
• Identify and assist in writing of new Work Instructions by using National or International test methods.
• Prepare samples and perform XRF tests
• Drive forklift for transporting, loading, off-loading and stacking
• Abide to storage/disposal procedures.
Performs any other reasonable tasks when required by the Lab Analyst /Supervisor / Manager
