WELCOME TO THE
Afrimat is a proudly South African, leading mid-tier mining and materials company. Genuinely passionate about our country and its people, we believe that our success is intertwined with the well-being of the communities where we operate.
We established the Afrimat Foundation Trust, a Non-profit Organisation (NPO), because we believe we have a responsibility to do what is right and consistently endeavour to ensure a sustainable future for the communities in which we operate.
The Trust also operates as part of Afrimat’s 5% Equity Equivalent Programme. The Mining Charter as a policy states that a Right Holder wishing to apply for a new mining right must have a minimum of 30% B-BBEE shareholding, of which 5% must be held by the Host Community adjacent to such Right Holder, either by way of a nontransferable carried interest, or by way of an Equity Equivalent Benefit, from the date of issue of such mining right.
Although it is not mandatory, the Company (Afrimat), in its capacity as the majority shareholder of the Right Holders, has elected to utilise the Equity Equivalent Benefit for the purposes of the Right Holders complying with the Mining Charter in this regard, as it believes it is the right thing to do.
The host communities around our mines are designated as beneficiaries.
Guided by Afrimat’s culture of achieving excellence with integrity, the Foundation operates based on the following core values:
To enable host communities to benefit from social upliftment and enhance the ability of the relevant Right Holders to apply for new mining rights.
To be a leading catalyst for positive change in South Africa, promoting sustainable, self-reliant communities and responsible resource management.
