Trained, Informed and Skilled

Afrimat believes that a trained, informed and skilled workforce will be personally satisfied and therefore retained, leading to a deepening skills pool and in turn driving higher productivity and profitability, thereby providing a competitive advantage to the business.

Skills initiatives:

Learnerships and internships:

Financial support followed by a fixed term internship for students in professions such as engineers, technicians, accountants, HR officers and trades such as boilermakers, diesel mechanics, fitters, electricians.

Core business skills:

Plant equipment, maintenance programmes, blasting practices (eg blasting practices, examine and make safe, blasting assistance), material testing, computer literacy, adult educational training and sales training.

Statutory training:

Health and safety (‘SHE’), firefighting, first aid, driver’s licenses, operator licenses and mine regulations.

Strategic training:

Leadership and management development programmes, bursaries and study assistance to employees at tertiary institutions i.e. diplomas, degrees and post-graduate qualifications.
